Alex Mercer: It is Tuesday, January 20th. I’m Alex Mercer, and this is the Daily Sports Evening Edition. We have a heavy slate tonight and the markets are moving fast as news trickles in from the shootarounds. We’re here to give you the final word before the West Coast tips off. We encourage you to jump in your prediction market app of choice with us; as always, we will be using Polymarket’s data to track the sharp money. Marcus, the board is shifting. Let’s get into it. Marcus Webb: The volatility is high tonight, Alex, but the data is clearing up. We’ve got five morning positions to verify and three late-breaking plays that just hit the high-conviction threshold. The key tonight is depth—or the lack thereof—for some of these heavy hitters. Alex Mercer: Let’s do the Roll Call. We started the day with five plays. First up, the Under 225.5 in Spurs vs. Rockets, currently trading at 61 cents. Marcus, how’s that position looking? Marcus Webb: It’s a firm Hold. At the time of recording, the line stability is rock solid. The big news is Fred VanVleet being confirmed OUT. He’s the engine for Houston’s half-court sets. Without him, and with San Antonio on a back-to-back, this has "slugfest" written all over it. We stay the course on the Under. Alex Mercer: Next, Lakers vs. Nuggets. We liked the Over 226.5, trading at 51 cents. What’s the status? Marcus Webb: Hold. The market reacted to Nikola Jokic being ruled OUT by slightly lowering the total, but they didn’t go far enough. Jokic is Denver’s interior defense. With him gone, Anthony Davis and LeBron James should have a layup line. We expect a high-scoring efficiency game from LA that pushes this over the mark. Alex Mercer: Moving to the ice. Sharks vs. Lightning, Lightning Moneyline at 73.5 cents. Do we still like the Bolts? Marcus Webb: Absolutely. Conviction held. Andrei Vasilevskiy is confirmed in net. San Jose has the worst expected goals differential in the league. As we sit here now, this is a talent mismatch. If the Lightning get that early power play goal, the 73-cent entry will look like a steal. Alex Mercer: Wild vs. Canadiens. We have the Wild +1.5 at 65.5 cents. Any changes? Marcus Webb: Hold. Kirill Kaprizov has been cleared to play, which is the green light we needed. Montreal’s defensive zone coverage is a mess right now. Minnesota has won four of their last five on the road. Even if this stays close, that puck line protection at 65 cents is where the smart money is sitting. Alex Mercer: Last one from the morning: Rangers vs. Kings. We took the Kings at 62.5 cents. Are we still fading the Rangers? Marcus Webb: We are. The Rangers confirmed Jonathan Quick gets the start against his former team. While it’s a great narrative, Quick has a 5.64 GAA recently. Plus, New York is still missing Adam Fox. The Kings’ transition game is too fast for this depleted Rangers blue line. Hold the Kings. Alex Mercer: Alright, let’s look at the Late Breaking Plays. First, we’re heading to Salt Lake City for Timberwolves vs. Jazz, tipping off at 9:00 PM ET. What are we seeing? Marcus Webb: We are jumping on the Timberwolves Spread at -10.5. The news just broke that Lauri Markkanen is officially OUT. Look at the player prop markets—his Over points price is sitting at 0.0075, essentially zero. Utah’s offensive rating craters without him. Minnesota has the best defense in the league; they should win this by 20. If you can still get this under 60 cents on the spread, take it. Alex Mercer: Then we have the Suns vs. the 76ers at 7:00 PM ET. Suns Moneyline is trading at 56.5 cents. Why now? Marcus Webb: The 76ers are asking too much of Tyrese Maxey. His 30-point prop is priced at 56.5 cents, meaning the market expects him to do everything. Meanwhile, Paul George is trading at 32 cents for a high-volume night—the market doesn't trust his output yet. Phoenix has their Big 3 healthy. Against a Philly team with no interior depth, the Suns at 56 cents is a value play we can't ignore. Alex Mercer: Finally, the Dog of the Day. We’re looking at the Raptors vs. the Warriors at 10:00 PM ET. Raptors Moneyline is trading at 40.5 cents. Marcus, this feels like a massive swing. Marcus Webb: It’s a calculated one, Alex. Golden State is in a tailspin. Jimmy Butler is out for the season and Draymond Green is sidelined with that ankle. Steph Curry is there, but who is defending the rim? Scottie Barnes is coming off a 25-rebound performance against them. We are also looking at Barnes for 9+ rebounds at 73.5 cents. The Warriors are forced to start Quintin Post or Gui Santos. Toronto is undervalued here at 40 cents. If the lead holds through the first half, that price will vanish. Alex Mercer: Let’s recap the Final Portfolio for Tuesday night: - **Spurs/Rockets:** Under 225.5 (0.61) – 8:00 PM ET - **Lakers/Nuggets:** Over 226.5 (0.51) – 10:00 PM ET - **Sharks/Lightning:** Lightning ML (0.735) – 7:00 PM ET - **Wild/Canadiens:** Wild +1.5 (0.655) – 7:00 PM ET - **Rangers/Kings:** Kings ML (0.625) – 10:30 PM ET - **Timberwolves/Jazz:** Wolves -10.5 – 9:00 PM ET - **Suns/76ers:** Suns ML (0.565) – 7:00 PM ET - **Raptors/Warriors (Dog of the Day):** Raptors ML (0.405) – 10:00 PM ET Alex Mercer: The action starts in minutes.
