Alex Mercer: Welcome back to the Daily Sports Evening Edition for Saturday, January 24th. We are moving fast tonight as the board is tightening up and the late-night action is about to tip. If you’re looking to get some skin in the game, we encourage you to jump into Kalshi, Polymarket, or your prediction market app of choice with us; as always, we will be using Polymarket’s data to track where the sharp money is moving. We’ve had a busy morning, and the results are pouring in, so let’s get right to the re-verify. Marcus, we had a heavy slate of morning bets and the odds shifted significantly throughout the day. How is the roll call looking? Marcus Webb: It’s been a high-conviction day, Alex. Let's start on the ice with the Sabres and Islanders. We held our position on the Under 6.5, and it was a clinical win. Buffalo dominated with a 5-0 shutout. Even though the Islanders' structure collapsed, Buffalo’s 100% penalty kill kept this well under the total. That’s a definitive win. Next, we look at the hardwood with Ole Miss and Kentucky. We stayed the course on Kentucky -9.5, and the Wildcats' number three offense absolutely dismantled the Rebels, 98 to 74. UK averaged a staggering 1.34 points per possession. The cover was never in doubt. Another win for the portfolio. Moving to the Big Ten, we had two positions on Maryland vs. Michigan State. First, the Under 140.5. As we sit here now, that officially goes down as a win. The final was 91-48, totaling 139 points. It was a sweat, landing just 1.5 points under the limit, but our thesis on Maryland’s offensive paralysis without Pharrel Payne was spot on. However, that same game gave us our first pivot and loss. We were holding Maryland +18.5, but we had to bail on that conviction as the game unfolded. The Terrapins shot below 30% and the 43-point blowout was a total failure of the offensive scheme. That is a loss. Finally, the Atlantic Sun matchup between Bellarmine and North Florida. This was a pivot and a loss. We expected Bellarmine’s ball security to carry the day, but North Florida’s defense—ranked near the bottom of the country—unexpectedly turned into a brick wall. The market collapsed on this one, and we're moving on. Alex Mercer: Three and two on the morning slate—we’ll take the profit on those Unders and the Kentucky blowout. But the night is just beginning. We have two late adds to the portfolio that the sharp money is starting to circle. Marcus, what are we adding before the 7:00 PM locks? Marcus Webb: First, we’re heading to Columbus for the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Blue Jackets. This is trading at 51.5 cents on Polymarket. Now, the Lightning are the superior team, but this is a classic trap spot. They’re on the second half of a road back-to-back after a shootout win in Chicago last night. Andrei Vasilevskiy is likely sitting this one out for Jonas Johansson. Columbus has won five of their last six and Zach Werenski is in peak form. If you can still get the Lightning at this price, it's a value play based on talent, but be conservative—if the price moves above 55 cents, the value evaporates given the tired legs. Second, we’re looking at the NBA. The Cleveland Cavaliers are in Orlando to face the Magic. This is currently trading at approximately 47 cents. The Cavs are also on a back-to-back, but the Magic are still missing Franz Wagner. While Jalen Suggs is back, the Magic offense has been stagnant, averaging only 99 points recently. Donovan Mitchell is the alpha in this matchup and historically dominates Orlando. We like the Cavs moneyline here as long as it stays under 50 cents. Alex Mercer: Alright, let’s wrap this up with the Master List recap for the night. We are holding our wins from the Sabres/Islanders Under, Kentucky -9.5, and the Maryland/MSU Under. We’ve wiped the Maryland spread and Bellarmine losses. Our new additions for the night are the Tampa Bay Lightning Moneyline at 51.5 cents and the Cleveland Cavaliers Moneyline at 47 cents. Both of those games—Lightning at Blue Jackets and Cavaliers at Magic—lock at 7:00 PM Eastern, so you have very little time to get your positions set. The markets are moving as the lineups are finalized, so keep an eye on those backup goalie confirmations in Columbus. Marcus Webb: Correct. It’s all about the situational spots tonight. The talent is with the favorites, but the fatigue is the factor we’re betting against. Alex Mercer: We’ll see if the "weary traveler" narrative holds or if the stars carry us through. Since it’s Saturday, make sure to check back tomorrow for our full Ledger Recap where we tally the week's profit and loss. Opinions expressed are for informational purposes only. Bet responsibly.
