Alex Mercer: Welcome back to Prediction Market HQ. It’s Wednesday evening, February 4th, and we are moving fast as the board shifts ahead of tip-off. This is the Daily Sports Evening Edition, and the odds are moving in real-time as the sharp money reacts to some massive injury news. We encourage you to jump into Kalshi, Polymarket, or your prediction market app of choice with us; as always, we will be using Polymarket’s data to track where the sharp money is moving. Marcus, the morning card just got hit with a sledgehammer. Let’s get into it. Marcus Webb: That’s right, Alex. The situation in New York has escalated from a concern to a full-blown emergency for Denver. We’ve got a lot to re-verify before these night caps get underway. Alex Mercer: Let’s start the roll call. First up, Nuggets vs. Knicks. Our morning status was "Conviction Held," but we’ve seen a massive shift since then. Marcus, how’s that position looking? Marcus Webb: We are doubling down. At the time of recording, Nikola Jokić is officially OUT with that knee issue, and Denver is also missing Aaron Gordon and Cameron Johnson. This is a rudderless Nuggets offense walking into a Madison Square Garden buzzsaw. The Knicks' defense is already league-leading, and they’ve won seven straight. If you can still get the Knicks at -5.5, it’s currently trading at 46.5 cents. That is massive value before the market fully bakes in the absence of the three-time MVP. Alex Mercer: Next, the Celtics vs. Rockets. We held conviction this morning. What’s the update? Marcus Webb: We are holding. Jayson Tatum is confirmed out, and while Houston lost Dorian Finney-Smith to the injury report, they’ve steamed to a 69.5 cent favorite on the moneyline. As we sit here now, the interior advantage for Alperen Şengün against a depleted Boston frontcourt is the edge. If the Rockets’ price stays under 72 cents, we’re staying the course. Alex Mercer: Third on the list: Grizzlies vs. Kings. We were pivoting this morning. Are we still in wait-and-see mode? Marcus Webb: We are monitoring this very closely. The morning rebuild narrative in Memphis just got flipped on its head because Ja Morant is active and leading the fast break. This contradicts the earlier "full rebuild" signals. The 'Under' thesis we liked is under serious threat if Morant pushes the pace against a Kings team on a nine-game skid. If you haven't entered the 'Under' yet, stay away. If you’re in, look for a hedge opportunity if the first quarter goes over 60 points. Alex Mercer: Moving to the ice: Wild vs. Predators. Nashville was our buy-low play. Status? Marcus Webb: Hold. The thesis remains intact with Nashville trading at 45.5 cents. We’re expecting Justus Annunen to start in net to stabilize things. That four-goal comeback against St. Louis gave them the emotional momentum we’re looking for to snap Minnesota’s streak. Alex Mercer: And finally, the Sharks vs. Avalanche. We were looking for a multi-goal margin. Is the conviction still there? Marcus Webb: Absolutely. Colorado is a heavy 72.5 cent favorite on the moneyline and 52 cents to cover the -1.5 spread. Nathan MacKinnon is sitting at 40 goals and hunting that 45-mark before the Olympic break. San Jose’s defense has completely collapsed lately, and with Ryan Reaves hitting IR, they lack the physical presence to slow down Colorado’s top line. We are holding firm on the Avs' puck line. Alex Mercer: Alright, let’s add some fresh blood to the portfolio. We have three late-breaking plays for the night slate. Where are we looking first, Marcus? Marcus Webb: We’re going back to the well with the Colorado Avalanche -1.5 against the Sharks. This is a pure mismatch. Colorado is coming off a rare shutout loss and they are the league-best offense for a reason. San Jose is 27th in goals allowed. If you can get the Avs to win by two or more at 52 cents, take it before the 9:00 PM Eastern puck drop. Alex Mercer: I love the bounce-back narrative there. What about the total in that Nuggets-Knicks game? Marcus Webb: We are adding the 'Under' for Denver at New York. Despite the public chasing the 'Over,' both teams are on the second leg of a back-to-back. With Jokić out and the Knicks facing rotation fatigue—Miles McBride is out and Josh Hart is questionable—this is going to be a methodical, half-court "rock fight." Karl-Anthony Towns will dominate the boards and slow the pace. Look for this to stay under the projected total if the line holds above 218. Alex Mercer: Last one: Oklahoma City Thunder at San Antonio Spurs. Start time is 9:30 PM Eastern. What’s the play? Marcus Webb: We’re backing the Thunder’s depth. Even without SGA and Chet Holmgren tonight, OKC has the league’s best defensive rating at 107.3. They just blew out Orlando by 36 and they already beat San Antonio by 21 last month. The Spurs are stuck in a mid-season lull. If you can get the Thunder as a slight underdog or near 48 cents on the moneyline, the defensive discipline of that top seed is the smart money play. Alex Mercer: Let’s recap the final Portfolio for Wednesday, February 4th. We are Doubling Down on the Knicks -5.5 at 46.5 cents. We are Holding the Rockets ML at 69.5 cents. We are Monitoring the Grizzlies/Kings 'Under' with a heavy lean toward bailing. In the NHL, we are Holding the Predators ML at 45.5 cents and the Avalanche -1.5 at 52 cents. Our late adds are the Nuggets/Knicks 'Under' and the Thunder ML at San Antonio. Marcus Webb: Remember those start times: Knicks and Nuggets tip off at 7:00 PM Eastern, followed by the Rockets and Preds at 8:00. The Avs and Thunder are the late-night anchors. Move fast, but stay disciplined. Alex Mercer: That’s the Evening Edition. We’ll be back tomorrow morning to see how the dust settled. Opinions expressed are for informational purposes only.
